Sunshine and Essential Oils
It’s the middle of Summer and many are spending their time having fun in the sun. This week for DIY Tuesday, we made some essential oil sun care recipes to protect you and your loved ones from the hot summer rays.
Overheat Spray Recipe
1. Add 12 drops of pure eucalyptus essential oil, 9 drops of pure spearmint essential oil, 9 drops of pure peppermint essential oil to a 4 oz. bottle.
4. Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water.
5. Shake well.
Use this recipe if you feel overheated. Shake bottle before each use.
After Sun Spray
1. Combine 1/2 cup witch hazel, 2 tablespoons pure aloe vera gel, 10 drops of pure lavender essential oil and 10 drops of pure helichrysum essential oil and mix well.
2. Pour into a 4 oz. spray bottle and shake well.
Apply this recipe generously to skin that needs cooling. Be sure to avoid spraying around eyes, as it will sting. Re-apply as often as needed.
When creating your DIY sun care products, be aware of Photosensitive Oils. These oils are generally citrus oils, and will cause you to burn. Read this article http://bit.ly/2ueDKsQ for more information on Photosensitivity and a list of the oils that may cause phototoxic or photosensitive reactions.
We also recommend purchasing the 2017 Summer DIY Kit , as it has even more recipes to make your summer fun and care-free.
